what is the purpose for a 3/2 vac valve on a man trans 240d
I know why it is there on my auto trans 300d's, to smoothen out the shifts. But why on a manual transmission. I changed the trans vac valve leaver then thought ,why on a manual trans. Can it be eliminated. then plug the series of vacuum lines that lead to the thermo vacuum valve, switchover valve, and EGR valve. Can i just plug the line to the series i mentioned and leave the 3/2 vacuum valve. A lot of questions to have on one thread. Thanks RAY M

I routed the vac lines that went to, then from the 3/2 vac valve on top of the valve cover. I connected them directly to each other. Well the engine wouldn't shut off until I reconnected them. Thats the only affect I could see. Perhaps a little more pep.
I still don't understand why the need for it on a manual trans. RAY M |

I cant think of any reason there would be a vacuum line going to a manual tranny.

The 300D's only use them for the EGR valve.

Agreed, a trans swap in it's previous life? I'll agree with forced too, egr related, should be able to plug all, do any line go to or near the main vac pump line?the

I was about to post the same question then found this thread. I just bought a 240d that is a factory manual car and it has the valves on the valve cover and the vacuum modulator for the transmission on the IP along with the EGR, thermovalve, etc. I need to find a vac diag to hook all of this stuff proprely.
