Windshield Seal Replacement

the windshield seal on my 84 300D is leaking like crazy all along the bottom of the windshield. I've stuffed towels into the tight space between the dash and windshield as a temporary fix.

Should I get this repaired by a MB mechanic or at an auto glass shop? Or is there anyone in the Seattle / Puget Sound area that knows the procedure and wants to help?

Auto glass shop should be fine. You might want to provide a new seal, click on buy parts above.

Where about in the PNW are you. I'm in Corvallis, and my shop uses a company called The Glass Man, and we've had good luck with him, and he does a good job. I need to have the rear window resealed in my 240 as well as a new windsheild in my wagon. Maybe we can hit him up for a deal on several jobs.

This isn't rocket science, especially to folks who do this for a living. As with many jobs, it is technique sensitive. Find a glass shop who is familiar with replacing the glass on these cars, along with the proper trim installation.

I'm just about to have this done. The lowest price I have found is $209 for a new windsheld (mine is all chipped up) and labor, I am providing the seal.

My windshield is in great shape, but I have a feeling it wouldn't be much cheaper to re-use the glass that I already have.

I take it the windshield on a W126 is glued in place correct? There is no seal available for it....like there is for a W123. My glass is pitted and rough and it leaks along the top....so I need replacement.

Use your insurance, if you have glass coverage its great. Thats what you pay them for.

Just tell them its pitted and you can't see out of it, or that it has a crack in it.

ANybody have a price from someone for replacing the seal and reusing your glass? Mine seems to be leaking, too.

I do indeed have glass insurance....sounds like a good idea! I will look into it....... Its true though, when I drive into the direction of the sun, I can barely see out of the window it has such bad pitting and haze.... I really wish I had new glass!

Whatever you do, get a MB seal for that beautiful wagon!
All of the aftermarket seals I have seen were poorly made esp in the corners and leak, unless the installer uses some sealant. Most installers order the aftermarket so tell them you will supply the gasket and you expect a discount for them not having to buy the gasket (and they lose some profit

Is the seal from this site the authentic MB seal?
