Anyway to test cruise control stalk?
I resoldered my cruise control amp and gave it a go yesterday and the cruise actually works EXCEPT that it will only engage if you pull the stalk up then forward a little bit. Then if you try to accelerate by pressing the stalk up, it shuts off. It also shuts off on its own if you just leave it for about 15 seconds.
Seems like the stalk may be faulty. Is there a continuity test I can do somewhere?

I believe all the stalk contacts are simple momentary contacts. Should be easy to find on the CC amp plug and ohm out.
Did you solder the rivets on the CCA connector? A pin out of the connector would be nice for troubleshooting. Anyone? |

I would also venture a guess that the contacts at the cruise control amp would be used to test but I have no idea what is supposed to be what

gdl-online.com has complete trouble shooting for the cruise control. If you have a decent VOM you can test all the components except the amplifier,if everything else is good ,well you get the idea.Actually what you describe is what mine was doing and it was cured by replacing the amp, your results may vary. My $.02 Don

Great site, thank you
It may end up being the amplifier, wouldn't be too surprised, but it wouldn't hurt to test the other stuff before replacing the amp This is the page I wanted by the way http://gdl-online.com/test024.html

Do the GDL trouble shooting procedure, but also make sure all the electrical connectors to the amp and actuator are tight and free from corrosion. An instantaneous loss of contact can also make the cruise to "trip" off.
