Question vacuum question w/photo

I have replaced some of the lines under the hood and am not sure if I can pull this hose out and replace. Thought I'd ask before I attempt. There is a small spring-looking thing that is wrapped around the bottom of the black hose. Can I pull this out (the hose between the green dashtop and the yellowish/white-ish thing) and replace with a new hose? The dashpot comes out so easily that I don't think I'm getting a good seal here. Thanks.

I have not seen that before, you may want to pull the line to see what you have. You may also want to ask Phil here at the site about that part.

I'm not an expert, but it looks like someone may have placed some kind of wire clip around the hose fitting to prevent leaks/dislodging the hose.

That's exactly right. The last person to change the hoses put the wrong one on (wrong opening size) and wrapped a wire around it to keep it in place. I put the correct hose on there and got rid of that wire. I was on there pretty good. I had to tug until it came off.
