Talking Here they come!!!

You know the other day when I had the 300D towed home after I bought it,the towing driver who picked it up is a good friend on mine,he was telling me that just a few weeks ago they had to send three MB diesel's at the crusher because the owners did not want to spend the money on maintenance,of course they were all sending these cars at the Dealerships and we all know that the labor rate is about 175.00$ an hour out here.He says that this happens allot out here and the next time it happens I told him to tow them right into my back yard as long as they are not beaters!.So watch out guy's the yard will be filling up very soon!!

I hate thinking about the number of cars with many miles left that get crushed because nobody wants to take care of them or can afford to take care of them. Crushing is an efficient way to destroy cars that no longer have any use... but I hate it when the useful ones get it too.

Kind of like cooking a meal, eating it once, and pouring it down the garbage disposal.

Good Lord, are you married?

What about what Kevin ("Powerpig") calls the WAF ("Wife Acceptance Factor")?

You must be very lucky, foolish, brave or naive - or single - in my opinion.

Anyway, aren't they ALL beaters if they don't run?............

They have to run to be beaters, ... if they won't run, their value must exceed the cost to repair or they're parts at best.

Might be a good way to get parts cars.

No one is going to junk a really nice example because it needs a $500 part. I would have junked my old SD if it needed a $500 part though, wasn't worth fixing.

Just be sure to get the titles to those cars. The owners expect them to be sent to the junkyard with an appropriate slavage designation on the title, and some might be a little nervous about someone deflecting their car and fixing it up, then putting it back on the road.

I only say this because my first car was one of those situations. Knowing what I knew about it's "hidden" structural flaws (rusted out frame), I junked it despite it having no visible rust anywhere and running fine. I would have refused to sign the title to anywhere where it wasn't going to get a salvage designation on it to prevent it from easily being resold to some unsuspecting person -- I didn't even trade it in to get rid of it but had it hauled to the junkyard myself.

BB, isn't there a crusher there in NC somewhere. I know this fella from TN who drives to this place in NC and gets parts from MBs b4 they are crushed. You know which one it is by chance?
