I need to replace the half shafts on my 85' 300CD how hard is this, any special tools needed, any special problems I might run into. I have replaced shafts before but not on MB's. Thanks.

Pretty straight forward. You will need:
Breaker bar, rachet, and sockets, 13-19mm, all 1/2" drive
-Jack and stands
-14 mm allen socket
-A bigass cheater bar that will fit over your breaker bar (I am partial to iron gas pipe, 2" or so), along with some ass to push it!
-A pan to drain your rearend fluid
-Gasket Sealer
-Diff seals if you are planning on replacing (I didn't, no problems)
-Needle-nose pliers (long head)
