Question Which ATF do we use???????

After reading the thread about Mobil 1 changing their synthetic ATF formula, I am now very confused as to which ATF to use. I was planning on changing my ATF and using mobil 1, in my 1983 300sd with 722 auto trans. Now, I don't know what ATF to use. I wanted to use a synthetic fluid; I figured that temperature extremes wouldn't be so hard on the tranny. Also I would like to just be able to pick up what I need at my local auto zone.

Careful about using synthetic if it's never had it before. Same goes for engine oil.

We switched all three of our diesels and our minivan and my uncle's cavalier to synthetic engine/trans fluid, and none have had a single problem.

Its all the same, I don't think its as important as engine oil.

Just get whatever Dextron/Mercon III fluid your local autoparts store has on sale.

No dangers at all switching to synthetic.
