95 E300 Diesel - Air in fuel lines - Need help
Hi, I have a 95 E300 that started giving me problems. All the lines going to the filter assembly have air bubbles when the car is running. I checked for leaks and can't find anything, filter and pre filter are new, return lines from injectors are new.
I would like to replace all the lines and fittings, and o-rings necessary but can't find the kit necessary. Can someone help me in getting all these parts?? Also, I was thinking about replacing the fuel pump in the IP, does that make any sence? Thanks for the help!! |

I have a 98, same motor with a turbo. I had the same problem (common on this engine) and spent $700 at my indy before he gave up on it. I took it home to work on myself, with help from this board we found and resolved the problem. Cost was $1.84. Turned out the O ring on the prefilter had been replaced with one the wrong size and it was sucking air. First thing I would do is replace the prefilter and get the MERCEDES O ring to fit it. You CANNOT go to advace or auto zone and get this O ring, it apparently is some off size. After I replaced mine it took about 20mi. of driving to get the trapped air out. It has been perfect for the last 3K mi.

Below are is a link to the typical o-ring sizes used on the 606. Your count may be subtly different for your 606.910 compared to what is used on the 606.962.
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=177588&highlight=om606.962 You can purchase viton orings only from fryerpower.com (a forum member) or you can purchase new lines (with orings attached) from the dealer for ~$60-80. Using the detail below if you tell us exactly which lines have air we can usually help narrow down where to look for the bad seal or you can repalce all of them which is usually the best course of action. http://detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.asp?TP=1&F=124131&M=606%2E910&GA=722%2E435&GM=717%2E433&CT=M&cat=19T&SID=07&SGR=120&SGN=04
