Learn something new everyday. That's what I love about this forum. What is the reason for deleting the brace? That paint on the dented lower fascia looks too good. I wonder if the lower lip is painted black? Someone mentioned this is one way to tell if there has been a repaint in the past. I dig the sticker on the valve cover with the info on valve lash. Wish I had one of those.

Garrett ("DieselKraut22") has a thistle green W123 Euro 300D a lot like this one, and it has no hood pad on it either.

I am pretty Garrett's car was always like that (never had a hood pad).

W123 Euro diesels are really cool, I like them a lot.

Yah, I like them as well, except for one thing, well a couple, the seats. The outer panels are no longer MB tex in the "later" 240s. Am I having a senior moment. I had a euro 82 TD and the outer seat panels were MB tex. Anyway the light colored ones were a bugger to keep clean, the "later" interior with those "plastic" seat backs, no grab rail driver side.. are not quite as nice. I hope I haven't "defiled" my car by swaping out the interior

We see a few W123s with only one support up front, here where AC is'nt needed much

Most of the above items are simply characteristics of Euro spec autos. My hood springs are painted on all my cars.

No AC=no condenser=no aux fan=no use for second brace.

My 84 Euro came with no hood pad. BTW, I would like to find someone that would buy my 84 Euro 240D, manual everything along with my 80 Euro 240D manual everything (even including steering box) and build a car from them. I hate to just watch them rot into the ground.

JimmyL,

Are you missing a 3/8" ratchet?

I think the engine looks great. I have RARELY seen the sticker on still on the valve cover in that condition.

Wow that is probably nicer than 99% of the 240D's left, someone here should buy it.
