Rain dances, spare tires, warning triangles, pregnant women and emergency rooms.

What a shiet day. 5:30 my preggers wife calls me and the she has been in an accident on the interstate near our house. I fly out of work and get to the scene before anyone else does, they just start showing up when we are leaving. I did get to make good use of my warn dreiecke (I took it with me when I left, cant trust none of you 123ophiles ). We get to the hospital and wait. My friends show up and take the kid home. Then we waited some more.
And wait.
Mind you she is in alot of pain and I communicate that to the hospital (Crawford Long Hospital).
And wait.
And wait.
And wait.
(Mind you each wait is one hour).
I tell them we are leaving.
I get her home (stop at bar on way home for takeout food, brewskie). Eat food and go look at the car.
Now it hasnt rained around here in weeks, worst drought in 50yrs. But my dumb arse govenor picks yesterday of all days to have a prayer and do a little rain dance.
It rains.
I am now changing 2 tires on the 300TD in the rain on the side of the interstate in what is more or less a gully.
I drive the car home (steering wheel is all fubar to the left but amazingly enough it drives straight for its first time in the 3mos we have had it).

The Pirelli spare tires in the trunk that I had put on last thursday had delaminated as best as I can tell.

So check your spare tires, have your warning triangle on hand like a good boyscout, don't take your pregnant wife to Crawford Long Hospital and site in the emergency room, do go to the Flat Iron in EAV for good food, and who knew rain dances worked?

ER secret.

If you are stuck forever at the emergency room, gasp for air and say you can't breath. Takes you to the front of the line.

Chest pain and tingly arms work as well.

I prefer the Righteous Room, but the Flatiron is pretty great!

Sorry to hear about your day - makes my day of childcare due to my wife having the flu sound alot less bad!

Atlanta, eh? Crawford Long Hospital was about 2 blocks from where I lived a couple years ago.

Nice city, I might be back there soon actually for some graduate work at Emory.

Thankful!

I've been in the Healthcare System for 22 years as a Paramedic ... Your story is not just happening in Atlanta ...

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE use EMS (Emergency Medical Services, i.e. Ambulance) to get your traumatized loved ones to the Hospital. It takes us veteran Medics no time to cut thru the red tape and have our patients seen by the appropriate Docs quickly. Your wife would have been taken to the OB/Gyn ward had this happened in Delaware ... And seen immediately

I'll get off my soap box, but very THANKFUL all is well with your wife and little one!

Idiotically enough it is 20weeks plus to go to maternity there. And ya I think an ambulance will do the job next time.
