delivery valve o ring replacement 1996 e300d

I am in the process of replacing fuel line o rings. Does anybody know what kind of socket, short of a special tool, I need to remove delivery valves to get to the 0 rings.

The socket is a special splined socket made by Hazet if I recall and you can buy it from M-B and various aftermarket tool suppliers. Search on this forum and you will find the Part Number from MB.

This is the socket you will need to remover the delivery valve.

If you elect to repalce the DV seals you should make certain to only remove the valve holder, the spring and the crush washer.

The valve element (7K) and everything below it must not be disturbed or serious damage can occur resulting in the pump needing to be recalibrated or replaced.

you can rent the tool from at least 2 different members here.Worked for me as i dont expect to need the tool again anytime soon so i didnt want to buy one and the small cost involved in renting it helps the member who did buy it eventually recover his cost.Seemed like a win-win to me. My $.02 Don
