Alternator Pulley Replacement 1984 300D

Looks like I didn't tighten down the alternator pulley enough when I installed the replacement alternator about 2 years ago. Mine is now rounded out. Thank goodness the alternator itself feels good.

I now need a replacement double row pulley. It appears Fastlane (WorldPac) doesn't stock this item.

I'll have to call the boys in the morning and see if its available from another source (or locally).

Anyone have problems sourcing a new alternator pulley?

Did you use the woodruff key when installing that pulley? If not, make sure you do on the next one. When I had mine swapped out, the fella used an impact wrench to remove and replace.
You may be able to use any pulley that lines up, even just one, but you'll need the correct sized belt, don't know if any different speed will cause any problems.
Try bone yards, good luck.

I lost my pulley a while ago because NAPA didn't tighten it down enough on a replacement alt. I checked the dealership and I think the pulley was something like $180 or something (!) no thanks.

I found a forum member with a parts car who sold me one for $20.

The woodruf key is still there, but the damage has already been done to the pulley. ($180 for that pulley)

Buy an old alternator at a salvage yard if you have to. In fact they might be willing just to sell you the pulley. Perhaps a site member has an extra pulley. Why not place a part wanted add on our parts for sale and wanted section?
