1987 300SDL Alarm Chirps & Lights Flash
This is my 1987 300SDL I have been working on for many months. The other day I installed the battery and got ready to fire up the motor. When I went to open the door to turn over the engine, the alarm (horn device under windshield washer grate on passenger side) chirps and the lights blink a couple of times. It actually doe's this when I open any of the 4 doors. I didn't rece1ve an owners manual with this car but it looks like I need one. In doing a search on chirping & blinking lights, I read where someone had used a key in their door to make this go away or reset. Anyone??? I should add that it it only chirps for a few ANNOYING seconds.

Not sure on the 126 but my 87 124 you need to put the square master key and put it in the drivers door and turn it to the left to deactivate alarm.

That's exactly what happened to me, and the second post was the solution.

"Chrips" sounds like an aftermarket alarm. The factory alarm either sounds continuously or not at all. And it's a "beep" like one of the horns, not a "chirp."
If it's the factory alarm acting up, what works for me is to unlock the door with the key, pull open the door (alarm sounds), turn the key to lock with the door open. That should silence the factory alarm. Or unlock from the passenger side or trunk. To disable the factory alarm system, remove the false firewall in the front passenger footwell, locate the long slim black box with 2 connectors each with about 14 pins, remove either or both of the connectors. The car will run fine with the factory alarm controller disconected. If this is an aftermarket alarm system, you'll have to surgically remove it. I've removed a few such systems in my day and the key is locating and reconnecting the wires used for the starter interrupt. The rest is just removing controllers and sensors and wires. The chirping continues
I did the thing with the key. It didn't seem to make a difference. FWITW I believe the car has a factory alarm install, not aftermarket. The chirp isn't long, its more of a quick sound and then it stops when you close the drivers side door. What baffling is depending on which door I open determines how strong the duration of the chirp. Go figure. I will probably just disable the frickin system when I can make time.
