OM615 & OM616: Manifold differences???

A question for the real diesel lovers.

Are the OM615 intake and exhaust manifolds the same for the 200D, 220D and 240D? Are they compatible? Are they different port sizes?

Are the OM616 240D intake and exhaust manifold compatible with the earlier OM615s?

I am looking to bolt the OM615 manifolds to my 1981 OM616 240D as part of an engine conversion (looking for a bit of room on the passenger side of the engine). I know I wont need the butterfly valve assembly from the OM615 intake manifold.

I looked at this really hard when i built my jeep but i didn't need to do it after all. I would say to look at the gaskets if the are the same it should work fine. Sure looks the same.

If you check fast lane above, the exhaust manifold gasket for the 220d of '72 and the 240d of 74 have the same part number. I tried to check the seal ring on the pipe to manifold but the 74 does not list one. So I don't know if that means it is different or not.

All the 615 and 616 intake/exhaust manifolds will swap between the engines.

I don't really remember the layout of the manifolds, but the 615s and the early 616's had the oil bath air cleaner. I think the intake manifolds might be different to accomodate that, but, like I said I don't really remember for sure. I agree the gaskets are probably the same though.

Hey Jared,

Both the OM615.912 in a 115 body 220D and the 616.916 in a 115 body 240D have a center-exit exhaust manifold and will work with the newer 616.912 engine.
