1985 Mercedes 300SD transmission number
Dear All,
I was looking for a transmission number on my transmission without any luck (I have the transmission out of the car). The "Russian" VIN decoder says it should be a 722.303 but I would like to confirm. All I found was a Mercedes number on the driver side of the casing (I guess the case number): 126-271-15-01 and another number next to it: 2369-2. Is there any way to cross reference these numbers? Where should the real number be stamped? Thanks! Greg

take a look on the passenger side of the transmission. there should be a stamped number on the edge of the case above the pan.
A long number like 123 xxx xx xx 722 400 xx xxxxxx the 722 is automatic the 400 is version # or type last digits the serial # Charlie
