Long life brakes

I don't know whether this is dumb luck or a common thing on the 210 diesels, but the brake life I seem to be getting is pretty astounding to me. I put new rotors on the front at about 55,000 miles. I'm now at 110,000 miles and they are only worn down about 33%. Pads have 75,000 miles on them and still have about half their life left. The pads are Jurid and rotors are ATE. The rear pads and rotors are still original AFAIK. Anyone else seeing this kind of brake life?

possibly the slow abilities of the car lend itself to limited need for brake use?

I would have considered that for my 240D, but this E300 is pretty quick. I just wish my tires lasted half as long as the brakes.

Yes, I have similar experience. I had my rotors changes when I bought the car with 41,000 miles as part of the Starmark Warranty, so it got new pads then too. I had a front wheel bearing failure at about 110,000 miles, and since everything was just slightly more than half way worn down, I replaced the rotors and pads again. I now have 160,000 plus on it and it is fine. So, it is likely I could have driven the 41,000 miles to the present mileage with the one set of pads and rotors had the wheel bearings held up.

These brakes are larger and they are ventilated compared to the 240D brakes. That may have a bearing on the wear rates. Jim

Ditto on my 210 wagon. I recently had all four wheels off to bleed the brakes and inspected the pads/rotors while in the neighborhood. The rotors appearto be original, with 53K on them. Pads have about 35K, having been replaced when the car was Starmarked. The pads, front and rear, are at most 20% worn. They will easily last another 100K miles. And yes, these are the soft OEM Mercedes pad; they dust like crazy. That I drive this car like a granny might have some affect...

I think its highway driving and age, or a combo of both. I know I'd get about 30k miles out of them the way I drive.
