300D Turbo Whistle? - PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum

I have a 1987 300D Turbo. Recently I have noticed that when I put my foot into it I hear a whistle noise develop which drops of after it shifts into a higher gear. My guess is that the some seal around the turbo is leaking air. This does not happen when I drive at slower speeds. I'm I in the ballpark? Thanks, Shane

It should be RPM / boost related. You can check the seals by dumping soapy water on the area and putting the car in D and revving until you see some boost. Before you do anything check your ALDA and wastegate hoses.
