3 point star on hood 1982 300 sd turbo

Ok guys the star on my hood came in the ash tray.have the star looks like it is hooked to a spring thats in a metal cage but iit looks like when you put it in the hole that their should be another piece to go over that one. will appreicate eny ideas. thanks bobco hope i make member soon
