Question 1984 300SD Driver's seat is going bonkers

My front seat has begun moving on its own. This model has 8 way adjustable seats with 2 memory positions. It appears to be triggered when weight is place on the seat bottom on the side of the pad closest to the door. I can create this effect by sitting down and leaning hard to the left. It actually began a few weeks ago just after leaving the shop then resumed normal operation the next day. I chalked it up to some moisture penetration of the switch contacts that was triggering forward motion after I had a minor leak in a car wash. Today it began again. Typically, what happens is that the seat bottom will move to the full forward position while the back pad will move fully upright. Anyone seen this before? Know what to r/r? Thanks.

The 84 SD i just got does the same thing when you first start it up (also makes the wipers wipe a few times), done it 3 times so far. I havent figured out whats causing it yet though. I'm going to take the seat switch apart and clean the contacts first.

I suspect a wire has rubbed bare and shorts out against the seat frame/car when you lean to the left.

happened a couple of times

It's been a looooong time since that happened to me, but it happened shortly after I rebuilt (well, cleaned up) the seat control int he door. Might make sure the connector is seated / in good shape?

Have you had the door panel off recently?
