It will all depend upon the rust situation. If that is OK, sounds acceptable...

Are you looking for a parts car or a project? It sounds like this could be either (assuming no rust).

Go drive it, it is nearby. If it runs and is not rusty, try to hammer him a little bit and then buy it.

If it runs for a few months or a half a year without your putting anything into it, then you have got your money out of it, anything more is gravy.

And you could get rid of it or part out at that point.

I would take a look. If it really has a new tranny and it's not a rust bucket, why not?

I would want to get it for about 200. With that mileage it is a parts car most likely. At least that is how most folks would view it and the price would reflect that.

It looks like it would be a project all right! I agree with Tom.

are you guys crazy? 415K parts car? come on, these cars are MILLION millers aren't they?
seriously though. if the rust is nonexistant, it is a steal, if it's heavily rusty, it is a waste of 650. why aren't any of these in my end of the continent?

Two years ago I spent $475 for a 1981 200D parts car. I sold about $400 in parts, got about $100 for the scrap body, and I have an attic full of parts that I stripped before hauling it off.
Last January I purchased a 1984 300D parts car with a running engine and 100k on a rebuild transmission. I was able to drive the car down the road. I have not touched the engine or transmission and I have already gotten my money out of it.

Worst case it might be worth $650 as a parts cars since a W116 is not as common as a W123.

If you have a place to put a parts car it can be a great thing to have around.
Just a thought.
