BB block in EGR vacuum tube mystery result

I pulled the old BB in the EGR vacuum tube, and was real shocked.
I drove it up to about 60 on a old military access road, and it was acting funny.

It sounded like poop. Second when I floored it it deposted soot all over the road in one spot and the same when I came off the go pedal.

I also didn't hear my TURBO at all. Did I do it right? Mine has a rubber elbow that Slips on the top of the egr tube, and the other side is s vacuum line. I put the bb in the vac tube side and skip the rubber elbow back on the egr tube....

Is it just a coincidence.

If you made the EGR functional again it may not be working correctly.

what do you mean

I not sure what you mean. What should I do. I put it back like it was...minus the BB, is there anything I should check or do?

What he means is that by removing the BB you removed the disabling device for the EGR, thus restoring it to working order, or attempted working order.

Put the BB back, the EGR is pointless it does nothing good for these engines.

I put it back

I put it back and also plugged the ARV vacuum line.

It seems to be running fine, but lots of smoke and soot coming out. Is that going to remain , or is it just initial, like when you do the diesel purge.

I need to do some seaches on my turbo, it is not really operating all of a sudden, I can barely hear it spooling, unspooling, and it is not coming on very often like it used to..

You shouldn't be able to hear it. If you can that means there is a torn intake boot or a problem with the turbo.

This is probably a non helpful response but can you post a pic of the exact line you put the BB in, There is no chance you put the bb in the wastgate line is there?

Does your car have California emissions, i.e. a trap oxidizer?

No, not a Cal, and I thought of taking a picture, since most of the 100 threads I read through had no pictures....

Why should I not hear the turbo. FOr the first year of my ownership, I heard the thing when I jumped on it and the RPM's went over 3K, as soon as I came off it would spool down. I high pitched ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! That would loose speed as I came off the go pedal...Kinda like a dump truck....

Being able to hear it means that a joint is leaking air in or out to cause noise like that. If all the intake/exhaust joints are sealing as they should, the air filter assembly and resonator will muffle turbo sounds to the point it cannot be heard over normal engine noise.

Check the rubber rings inside the u-tube that goes between the air filter and the turbo.
Get some soapy water in a spray bottle, revv the engine to ~3000rpm and spray the joint between the turbo outlet and intake manifold. If the o-rings are not sealing you will get bubbles at the joint.
Look at the gasket between the manifolds and the head and look for clean streaks or black streaks and check for black streaks at the exhaust manifold (cracks) and turbo flange.

Not hearing it anymore

If I am not hearing it anymore isn't that good, and should I only check it if the noise comes back....

not always, those later 123's you actually could hear the turbo a bit, not exceptionally loud but it was there. I've noticed this more on cars with the KKK's on them.
