SLS, both sides lift, driver side immediately loses pressure
I jacked up the back of the car and manually lifted the actuator up and down to insure it wasn't hung up or bent, it was not. I visually inspected all the lines and the box, very clean, no leaks and no signs of previous leaking.
I set the car down and started it and low and behold the SLS kicks in and raises the car up but almost immediately the driver side sags back down. I manually activate it and same story, goes up and then loses pressure. I looked for leaks none found. I am guessing I may have a bad shock? Won't hold pressure? Any help? If you look at the car now, passenger side looks normal, driver side way low in the rear. I also posted earlier that I had a leak, but it was on the passenger side and I believe it must have been from some other source.

Just to clarify, I assume you mean that its level when the car is running and sags when the engine is turned off.
Also what part are you referring to as the actuator? If it goes to level on both sides when you start it, then there must be a leak on the sagging side. There is only one line out from the SLS valve. It runs to a T-fitting which splits off to the actuators (hydraulic rams or "shocks"). EDIT, see post 5 Your leak must be between that T-fitting and the accumulator on the right side. That includes the line to the actuator, the actuator itself, the line to the accumulator and accumulator itself. Now that I've said that, I'm wondering if there could be air in the actuator. If so, its supposed to be a self bleeding system, and repeated manual operation of the valve lever should burp it. Last edited by Douglas.Sherida; 12-20-2007 at 03:18 PM. |

Something is odd here. If there is one common line from the valve to the acuators/struts, why don't both sides drop down? Is there a check valve on each side somewhere?

Well, it seems to be holding now. Back up to yesterday, I filled the reservoir but didn't drive it. I think that today after moving the car around it has now circulated the fluid through the system and is working and holding pressure. The only thing I can think of now is that the drivers side was the last to come to the party.
There must be leak somewhere, 3L of hydraulic fluid is not going to evaporate out of closed system. Keep an eye on it but am thrilled it is now functioning. Car rides nice and looks like it should when its parked.
