124 Aftercooler

I was measuring the aftercooler on a Volvo in the boneyard, almost exactly the same size as the A/C condensor on the 124. Has anyone tried using one of these? It is a (13B?) 4-banger, but the plumbing to it is much larger than the crossover pipe on the 603 so likely adequate flow.

Comments?

There has been some discussion of this unit at the super-turbo forum at www.schumanautomotive.com/forums Look for the "Volvo intercooler" topic.

Volvo intercoolers are horrible, very inefficient for their size.

Thanks. I guess I'll look for a better cooler, the saab one looks interesting and the junkyards seem to always have a couple of turbo slaabs.

Look on ebay. Aftermarket all aluminum intercoolers are cheap, efficient and you can pick one that will better fit your plans.

Thanks, I will.

Plumbing a sticky point, I was hoping to use one that crosses the front so that I wouldn't have to go over the engine, that crossover pipe really looks inadequate.
