that doesnt look good, but not terrible, either- do you see any obviuos cracks on the board, or bad solder joints??

Have you checked out your aux water pump? blower brushes? temp air tube behind dash?

heres mine-just pulled it out as it was spewing a bit o' magic smoke yesterday- I dont know if it will still work or not, but nothing seems ruined. a bit of discoloration. not as bad as yours, though.
I have a few loose ends to tie up before I re-install. if it doesnt work, I am going to put in a toggle for the fan and rig up defrost, at the least.

Okay, I have tested both the fan and the aux. water pump. When i apply power to them, they both work; no strange noises, seem fine.

Does this leave the ACC unit itself as the likely problem? Again, when i check the wiring harness, several leads coming in have voltage (at various levels).

Also, people have recommended fusing the line to the aux water pump. How are folks doing this? In line fuse spliced into the power line? What size amp fuse?

Also, do folks recommend used (from junkyards) ACC's or is it best to bite the bullet on this one?

And, Mobetta suggested checking the temp air tube. What and where and how do I check it?

Thanks, folks, Happy New Year!! and happy motoring.

The ACC unit is the most probable culprit. A re-man unit is the best bet.
The temp pipe is located behind the glove box. Part of it consists of a foam tube that deteriorates over time. A section of insulated foam pipe from a home center store has been used, just seal the ends and split.

Thanks for your reply.

Re; the tube. What does it do exactly? and what does it connect to on either end?

Thanks.
