Fluttering Gauges

I was doing some work on the insturment cluster and I think I somehow loosened up the ground wire for the fuel and temp gauges. I was just wonering if someone knew of a way that I could put in a new ground wire w/ out taking the entire cluster and or dash out.

Unless you have a few elves around probably not. Its not that hard 3 screws and a push.

No I don't have any elves around but I do have an 80 yr. old uncle that kinda lays around and criticizes what I do.

Now back to the cluster. ARe you referring to the 3 screws on the kick panel b/c mine has been taken in and out so many times that the threads are worn out on the middle screw housing.

I know exsactly how to take the cluster out but the speedo cab le and the other wires are so tight that there is no room to work. Can I get to the ground (brown) wire this way???

I don't know what you may have knocked loose but I'd check your main grounds, the short body-to-neg-post cable and the engine-to-body ground on the driver's side of the car, connected to the bell housing. If that doesn't fix it then if you look in the hole where the cluster was, moving around the insulation/sound-deadening material, you should see a bunch of brown wires bolted together to a piece of metal. Run a wire from one of the screws holding the three sections of the cluster together to that common ground and that should solve your fluttering needles.
