Got my new Benz home, 200D

Well finally got the 67 200D home today. Tryed to get it started but the starter isn't turning the engine over fast enough. It has been sitting for some time. So it is going to get new battery wires and clean up some terminals. I am also going to pull the starter to see if it needs cleaning and greasing.
It also needs an oil change. I am going to replace the Glow plugs and do a valve adjustment. Lets hope after that it will maybe start. I will take some detailed photos tomorrow and post what happens!
Cheers
-Cary

Try the battery first. Make sure the glow plugs are all getting hot. Does this car have a "gorilla knob" to activate the glow plugs?

It sounds like you have it pretty well covered. I would replace all the filters, maybe feed it some fresh fuel from a bottle. Consider putting in 5W40 synthetic to help it spin faster. Maybe connect it to a running car battery to get a little more voltage for the GPs and starter. I would probably avoid pulling out the starter unless I had to, but that's just because I'm lazy.

Yeah, It has a brand new battery. It does have the gorilla knob on the dash, the knob is broken off so I have to use plyers to pull it. Do they make a Synthetic diesel oil? That might be an idea to help let the engine spin, Especially with how cold it is in Abq right now.

Yes, head to your local walmart or autozone and pick up some Shell Rotella 5w40 Synthetic or Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck.
