new euro interior install

went not so smooth...

The black parcel shelf I pulled from the pnp was damaged by the passenger side speaker.. so the speaker does not sit right.. nor does the left side. I think I installed it wrong as well... I found rust on the C pillar on the right.. actually at the bottom right corner of the windshield(rear).. hurray.

I was an idiot and tried to rebuild a decent passenger seat.. which was not damaged so now it looks stupid and the drivers seat is shot.. Now I know the pain most of you suffer

I tried to swap bottoms from my 85 but... the euro mb tex/cloth will not fit on the 85's frame because it has a foam core instead of horsehair... Even with a broken spring in my original seats it still felt better than this euro seat

The passenger seat from the euro was missing the mounting ramps and rails so I was like.. easy as pie.. I'll swap the rails from my old seats to this bottom and call it a day... wrong.. one screw is siezed on the rail.. I only got 3 of the 4 visible and it appears that two are hidden.. how do I get those?

so I tried to remove the rails from my old drivers seat.. no go since I Cannot access those hidden screws.

I had to give up my storage bin arm rest so I could put a matching black arm rest.. I need the big plastic bit to go over the side opposite the mounting bracket. Now I'll have to toss my iPod in my glovebox.. yar.. It is good.. it will motivate me to get a new headunit with a remote so I can keep the ipod out of harms way

what else did I run into... oh.. funny thing. I go to remove the rear seat back.. I grab my 10mm and prepare to remove the bolts. but I find .. NONE!..wtf mate.. I don't have any on hand so its going to have to wait.

so.. here is my plan of action

1) hopefully iWrock will pull through on the stuff I need, or I go to a pnp and find a rear parcel shelf and just reglue my carpet on to it. or.. go to a place in town and have them make me one for some obscene price

2) seat bottoms.. both sides need new pads and the drivers side needs to be fixed. I saw a repair better than using an injector line and baling wire at schumans. I have the money so I can order new horsehair from GAHH!!!!!!!!!!

3) seat rails... I hope someone will help me here or the shop manual will be of use.

other than that the black interior really looks great.. the head rests in the rear are excellent.. though the block my view a little when up, its an easy fix.. pics to come soon

also... I am on the hunt for black, loop style carpet pieces...

1) front transmission hump ( I have one side. not sure which)
2) carpets around the doors
3) carpet below the rear seat
4) door kick plates.. I need 3
5) front headliner in black( mb tex) for a car with a sunroof
6) passenger side kick panel..
7) black parcel shelf.. or w/e I Can sew the rip

My allergies were killing me when I removed the old parcel shelf and found that haggard pad of dust... it fell apart in my hands so I tossed it.

I also need new speakers since the paper cone is gone

thanks

The bolts or screws holding the seats will expose if the seat is pushed to the max on its rail.

I can't seem to find my transfer cable for my camera...

I reccomend wearing gloves when working with the interior..

I managed to slice every part of my hand.. not major just a lot of paper cut slices.. I did not notice them while working but when I Did my hand was covered in blood... I freaked.. When I washed my hand off with soap and water I then did realize how many cuts I received.. I hate paper cut slices.....

That's looking very nice. I like the headrests Did you color the seats? They look pretty good installed if you didn't.

sorry to threadjack but I really like the 8-hole wheels on the W123's! I put the same wheels on my dads W123 (take off's from a W202) Did you have any clearance issues with the front wheel center caps? I had to use a spacer up front to clear the bearing cover.

I swapped out the interior of my 85 240D. The original color was ultar ugly, baby crap yellowish Found a parts car (81) with 'like new" palomino interior, seats, everything except headliner, even a dash. There were a few changes in 85, one being the male seat belt fastener wouldn't fit into the 81 buckle so I had to swapp all the seat belts.
