Heater core location on a 116?

I've started getting an occasional smell of antifreeze in my '80 300SD. Where is the heater core located on this car? I found this article
http://handbook.w116.org/Climate%5C83-100.pdf for removal/installation of the "heater box", but it never metions the heater core. The article is locate at this page http://handbook.w116.org/matrix6.htm.

If the core is buried in with the box, it sounds like a project I may not want to tackle myself.

Unfortunately, it is. So far as I know the only way to get to the heater core is the same way the FSM says.

From what I could see, I don't think the core is a problem in my car after all. The blower motor sometimes blows when the Defrost button is selected. I took the motor out today and it feels like it has resistance. Hopefully I'll be able to find a decent used one.

Very good news! That is a much less traumatic experience. Lots of 116's end up rusting away so there should be plenty of used ones out there.
