I know this is a common problem, but I am not used to deisels and this is frustrating me. I checked the linkage, and adjusted it til the stop button worked (didn't work before), now I have questions about the vaccuum.

1. Is the vaccuum device on the rear of the IP the engine cutoff solenoid?

2. What controls the vaccuum to the cutoff solenoid? Ignition switch or electrical solenoid?

3. If electrical solenoid under dash, where is it exactly and/or what does it look like?

4. Does cutoff solenoid pass fuel while activated with vaccuum and cut off fuel without vaccuum?

5. the motor doesn't act any differently with the vaccuum hose to the diaphram connected or disconnected, should it? What should it do?

I need help, this is far different from my 67 Mustang, where you turn the key off and the lack of spark makes the engine stop. When you turn the key off in the 240, what does it do, what exactly keeps it running?

PPPLLLLEEEAAASSEE HHHHEEEELLLLPPPPP!!!

Thanks, Doug.

The most common cause of this is knocking a vacuum line loose when changing the oil filter.

Have a great day,

It is the door lock trick to kill the motor. So, I checked all the locks and the trunk is locked and the fuel door is locked but the door locks go realllly slow, and don't unlock. Is this the driver's door vacuum or do all the doors have vacuum? Where do you find the parts once I find out which it is? Thanks for all your help.

Doug.

If you suspect a problem with door lock vacuum, take a look at the following:
