2 out of 4 windows stopped working

just wondering if anyone has had a similar issue with their windows. or if anyone knows where to start trouble shooting.
the drivers front and the passengers rear windows stopped working on the same day. theres not a sound, not a click, nothing. just not working. i checked all the fuses and they are all fine.
any ideas? hopefully other than starting to check vaccum pots?

Diametrically opposite windows are on a common fuse. You might try replacing the fuse; appearances can be deceiving.

Checking the vacuum system won't help.

Fuse, even if it looks OK, pull and replace. Actually replace all with copper fuses.

My vote is fuses too. They can look fine and be bad at the same time.

Ijust had the exact same issue, my switches have been acting up lately but i decided to check the fuses. when i opened the fuse "lid" the fuse looked intact but was infact kindof "bubbly" in the middle and the connection was broken. Even though from a distance it looked fine.

It's the fuse. My windows did the same thing. The fuse looked fine but had a bare ring where it makes its connection. You should put all new fuses in. It is very inexpensive. At minimum, buy a supply and keep them in the car.

I suggest you take some fine grit emery cloth to the contact point at both ends of the block where the fuse contacts, and maybe swap fuses with the other window group (just for fun). Often the Al fuse with the Cu block leads to corrosion.

(I would still recommend replacing the fuse)

Isn't there a relay for the windows? Or is it a direct system? I thought there was a relay in the fuse box that controlled the windows.

If the malfunctioned windows are across from each other then it's almost certain a bad fuse.

1980 300D - Opposite windows are ganged on a common circuit...Most likely the fuse...sometimes the "corrosion" is simply a dull looking finish or patina on the contact points of the fuse and/or the fuseblock contacts. For my spring cleaning routine I use a Qtip with the emery/crocus cloth wrapped over it to
"polish" the fuseblock contacts...works great. Also inspect and clean the seal on the fusebox cover and lightly apply rubber lubricant to keep the seal pliable.

No, there are no relays for the windows. There aren't any relays in the fuse box whatsoever.

Has to be a fuse or a broken wire.

when I brought my car to florida the humidity played heck with the fuses. I took all of them out and wire brushed the terminals in the box and replaced them with new ones from MB. used a lot of dielectric grease too. this fixed a lot of intermittant and bothersome issues with one pass, including the passenger front driver rear window issues I was having

also, if you recently replaced or removed your window switches, it is wery easy to get them connected wrong. The plugs will go on in many different combinations resulting in some windows not working or blown fuses....

Replace the fuses first.

The power windows on a MB are wired so that L/F and R/R are fused together and R/F and L/R are fused together.
