IP distributor valve ring

I have just replaced the dist. valve rings on my 87 300sdl/603. Prior to work the engine ran fine. The IP just leaked alot. After replacing the o rings, only, not the crush washer, the IP sounds louder. The engine runs rough at idle (500+rpm). While parked if I accelerate above 1100rpm it runs smooth. Any ideas what could be my problem?

Supposed to replace the crush washers too. THey are like $.50 each and help seat the DV holder when it is torqued.

What torque did you use?

I used 35nm. I had seen other posts suggesting the crush washers were not necessary. The MB parts guy said the same. Could this be the problem, not replacing crush washers?

you might also still have some air in the hard lines...did you drive it around some after the job was done? Did you do the 30-30-30+5 Torque procedure or just the straight 35NM torque?

I did 30nm loosen then 35nm. I have driven 100+ miles and the idle seems worse now than at first.

Most 606 owners have expirienced some increased inj clatter after replacing DV seals.

DP helped mine. Time (500-1000 miles) helps others; a combination of the two seemed to resolve the problem for me.
