I would have absolutely no idea how much to bid for that stuff....I mean, that's just a mindboggling assortment of parts.

Happy bidding TheDon:)

Chad300tdt 01-11-2008 01:46 PM

check out the link for additional pics. They have multiple boxes filled with just lug bolts.:) Lots of good dashes and interior parts there too.

rick surgent 01-11-2008 01:46 PM

OMG!!!!!!

MTU help

Group buy????

Douge 01-11-2008 01:52 PM

Yeah group buy.....:)

Sure there is a lot of good stuff there.

networkboy 01-11-2008 02:03 PM

If I had $15-12K laying around I'd buy it. Then set up shop selling the good bits :)

Jordan G 01-11-2008 02:11 PM

I wonder what the reserve is....I mean, how much has everybody been paying for good dashes? There are 19 there....that's crazy. I mean, that's probably 6k in dash alone, right?

We can't agree on religion, alternative fuels, oil/antifreeze brands.....how in the world would we split up the parts in a group buy?:)

LOL:D I was hoping some guys from Florida would be into buying it up and making it available in the parts section of the forum.;) It could be a profitable venture for the right people.

TheDon 01-11-2008 02:19 PM

well If I can get Surf N Turf to let me rent his barn we could surely store it all..

group buy?

I tossed in a Bid..

who ever is bidding was also bidding on Austins CD..

since the censored out middle but the first and last letters match...

The Reserve has to be... it has to be higher than $5,000 seriously.. the scrap value of all the metal there is worth a lot more than.. $12.50

eagle-co94 01-11-2008 02:31 PM

Throwing in a bid myself. Joe, maybe we should put together a business proposition for Surf-N-Turf?

The only real issue will be transporting everything here. I estimate that it'll take atleast 2 weekends to move it all...and atleast one truck rental.

Sent seller a message.

Caduceus 01-11-2008 02:41 PM

If only I owned a hangar....Maybe they'll just sell the whole building:rolleyes:

My other job has... trucks... box trucks and 53' trailers.. I can rent one for a small fee I bet...

I'm having one of those idea things...

Jordan G 01-11-2008 02:47 PM

Stage another GTG and have the Florida crew help you move it all.....that would be a ton of work - but fun. I'd be so sloooow, checking everything out.

TheDon 01-11-2008 03:05 PM

I just called my boss/neighbor for chits and giggles to see how much to borrow a truck, driver and 53' trailer... he said

pay for the drivers hotel room, and $300 for the trailer since he has a load going up that friday and coming back empty... since its slow I think the truck can sit for a day or two while its loaded...

*rubs hands* hehehehehehe

mobetta 01-11-2008 03:31 PM

Is that a repair shop or a chop shop....

Diesel911 01-11-2008 03:43 PM

Hopefully one of our members lives close enough to go look at the stuff in person. If I lived there I would go take a look.

rrgrassi 01-11-2008 03:50 PM

Yeah! I could use some of those parts. I wish they had a deal like this in Dallas!

dmorrison 01-11-2008 05:10 PM

What we need to do is make sure we find out who buys it and get a contact point so we can purchase a lot of the items from him.

Dave

winmutt 01-11-2008 05:27 PM

So I went to the link and looked at all the pics. Honestly I don't see alot of stuff that I would need. It is a great opportunity for someone to pick up all the stuff and sell it on ebay IMO

That would take 6 guys a week to move that stuff from FTL to a warehouse in Palm Beach. You'd have to get a warehouse and then shelves to store the stuff on and know the items by chassis in your mind to properly move that stuff. You'd then have to be able to itemize, describe, and know the value of the stuff in order to sell it! I'm in if we can get a team together to do that.

The ad said that everything in the pics comes with the deal, except the lift. I wonder if that includes all those shelves in the pics?

eagle-co94 01-11-2008 05:58 PM

I would imagine so. I just got a reply from the seller. The reserve is $10k, and they space taken up is 2000 sq ft. Wish I had the $$ & space. If we could get 10 people together, each with $1k I'd be in...but then there's the labor, storage and transporting issues to be worked out.

Larry Delor 01-11-2008 05:59 PM

Would need more than one 53' truck.
Parts immediately destined for the scrap metal dealer (unless they are new):
Rotors, Calipers, Springs, Swaybars, rims (unless mint), rusty sheetmetal, driveshafts, gas tanks (unless vintage),
Parts that would go to the scrap yard if they didn't pass muster:
Radiators, condensors,
Not sure what kind of money can be gotten for those items...maybe pay for part of the truck.
Might need a 30yd dumpster for rotten interior parts - those steering wheels look groady...if they can't be cleaned, they'll be tossed, along with any tires.

It would be nice to have the storage capacity, and the money to get those things. I'm sure that the price would be low enough to warrant it. The biggest obstacle, next to money and place, is finding labor to move it - I suppose a day labor place can provide that.

What the heck kind of place was that anyhow?? If they went out of business, they should've sold some stuff every now and then, and it might not have happened.

rick surgent 01-11-2008 06:14 PM

Ok, how about we offer them 500.oo a person for all we can carry out in lets say 3 hours.

BoomInTheTrunk 01-11-2008 06:31 PM

Alright, that is alot of stuff. for any of use to see that much stuff, its like a "Retard at Chucky Cheese."

lutzTD 01-11-2008 06:36 PM

looks like a few good things and a lot of junk, let the auction end and the price will come waaaaaay down, my guess he will sell it cheap to keep from paying someone to clean it out and dispose of it.

JackG 01-11-2008 08:13 PM

I'm about to have heart failure:eek:.

I need space.....and lots of it, then I need to quit my job:D.

even @ 10 k, there is alot of money to be made there.

vstech 01-11-2008 11:11 PM

um, anybody notice the cars in the pics...

howmany and what models... they look pretty stripped, but if they come with titles, they could be moneymakers too...

TheDon 01-12-2008 12:03 AM

even though I am really willing to front $1k and possibly a truck.. I don't think its worth it... maybe for 5k.. but 10k.. forget it... most of it is scrap

if I had a barn I would truly be on it since one day there will be a market for this..

daw_two 01-12-2008 01:45 AM

How many people???

Group buy --- hmmmmm......everyone make a list of what they need and throw some dollars in. The folks that throw dollars in get what they need plus have first choice on any remaining parts.

How do you price this stuff? How many people might be interested? 20? 100? 200?
If 20 people put in $1000 each would be $20,000
If 200 people put in $200 each = $40,000

I'm interested. Where is this?

dwoloz 01-12-2008 03:48 AM

Looks like an epic packrat

kernelpanic 01-12-2008 08:15 AM

OMG !!!
If it were only up here. I have the storage.

lee polowczuk 01-12-2008 08:23 AM

I don't think this stuff is worth more than scrap metal prices.... that's how I would bid it if i were in the hunt.

They probably don't expect more than that... i am sure the people just want it gone

Chad300tdt 01-12-2008 10:59 AM

If anyone here ends up going through with the purchase, I'd be interested in the red wagon hatch I see in the pics. Plus any rear wiper assemblies, maybe an SLS valve or any other wagon stuff that might be there.

eagle-co94 01-17-2008 04:02 PM

Woohoo! I'm high bidder with only 5hrs to go! Reserve not met.:(

TheDon 01-17-2008 04:13 PM

ha!

Chad300tdt 01-17-2008 04:14 PM

If you end up as the high bidder with the auction closing and the reserve not met, ask the seller if he will honor your bid for as much as you can haul in one trip.:D

TheDon 01-17-2008 04:17 PM

if that is true expect myself and James going up there with a Ryder truck

eagle-co94 01-17-2008 05:52 PM

Either that...or TWO! Honestly, I'm a Budget man myself...unless I can get a good military or AAA discount somewhere. :D

t walgamuth 01-17-2008 06:11 PM

I kept thinking as I looked at stuff that this was all the stuff he has not been able to sell for the last fifteen years!

Though tempted I would never never want to pay 10g for it.

Fun post!

thanks for sharing.

Tom W

eagle-co94 01-17-2008 10:53 PM

$2605...a far cry from $10k! We'll see if it gets relisted...

TheDon 01-17-2008 11:32 PM

too bad
