I have a 85 300sd. This is a W126. I am looking at buying a 83 300sd. Is this also a W126? Are all 300sd cars a W126, or are they similar eneough that the parts will interchange anyway?

Identical car, different year.

78-80 is a W116.
81-85 is a W126
86-87 is a long wheelbase W126.

Someone else can chime in but I think the 78-80 116 and the 81-85 126 motor parts are interchangeable. The 81-85 126 chassis parts are interchangeable with a 86-87 126.
