I think Dave Morrison has dealt with this before and hopefully he will chime in. I at least know he's addressed that part before....

You have to scoop the tree bark out from under it first.....
OOhh, sorry, that was wrong....
You have to keep a sense of humor about it though.

Wish you had posted the problem before you took out the rivets. Because of the rivets and the interior base of the rivet I chose not to replace the switch holding bracket, I chose to repair it. Here is a post on how I repaired it.

Also this post

http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=174620&highlight=240d+dave+control+switch+repair

Your bracket is broken because of the design of the bracket to faceplate on the car. The evaporator box must be at a certain fore aft point when installed so the faceplate can be screwed on correctly. With time or work the positions change and the U shaped switch bracket cracks.

To repair it correctly you would have to remove the evaporator box. You may be able to "rig" it but we will need some pictures of the rivet to evaporator box damage. I would consider epoxy and whatever is required to get the U shaped switch mount reattached. To repair my mount I drilled holes, wired the unit together and epoxy it together. Pictures would help.

If you want to replace the bracket. It must be ordered from Germany so allow a couple of weeks.

Dave
