I have a 1978 240D. About a month ago I drove it in to NYC without problem. A couple of hours later, it wouldn't start, the glow plug didn't turn on. A mercedes tech from mercedes checked out the battery which was fine. It enginewas turning, but wouldn't turn over. There was no smoke. It was towed to a shop in Great Neck. The repair shop put in a new glow plug and a new fuel injector. He said that it turned over after the fuel injector was put in. When I went to pick up the car it didn't start. A few days later the service station said that there was a fire while they were working on the car. And that they took off the inside dashboard panel and the wiring was a mess. Another nearby mechanic suggested a glow plug relay that was bought and arrived at the station last Wednesday. The service station said that they are rewiring the car, pulling wires off of other cars. Can anyone recommend someone near Great Neck that knows wiring of these cars? Willy Auto Service, said that he doesn't have time to work on my car. (I didn't know about Willy until a couple of weeks into this story.) Thank you in advance
