79 240d transmission tail shaft nut size???

HELP, I need to find out the spindle nut size on the outout shaft on the driveshaft. Does anyone know the size and where I could get one?

Are you talking about the transmission output shaft,the nut that holds on the flange?.If so the tool is sold here or build your own.http://www.toolss.com/wbstore/main.asp?action=PROD&PROD=M0032&CTMP=1

You need to look at the output shaft area. IF the tranny has been worked on the "NEW" nut should be the 30MM 12 point nut. A normal 30MM deep socket can work you just can't put the ratchet all the way into the socket, but its usable. If it has not been worked then it is the castle nut that hawthorne90250 posted. So go have a look.

I just bought a new nut from the dealer a few days ago.The replacement is a 30mm 12 point as described in other posts.
NUT Part # A 123-990-00-60
Washer A 116 272 00 76

Thanks for all the help, removed my old nut tonight with a shop built spindle socket. I will be ordering parts Monday am. Thanks again.
