Couple bucks to spend

Hey guys;

Purchasing some parts online -- fuel filters, air filter, oil filter kit, fuse kit.

I need to spend about $40 more to get free shipping.

What's good to have in the trunk/spare part kit?

It's a 1987 300D

- J

Extra fuel filters and oil filters as they are used often enough. Maybe some Ate blue brake fluid, or a powersteering filter perhaps.

oooh on a 603 get a OE Thermostat for sure!!! blown head gaskets are not good...
glow plug fuses
power steering filter
transmission filter/gasket
how is the blower motor working?
certainly 5 times as many oil filters as air filters. are you getting air filter? then get 10 oil filters.
that ought to do it.

Get some extra fuel injection return line. You cant buy it at the local Mcparts and it cost alot from the dealer and you will waste/leak alot of fuel driving around to find a substitue (one member said 1/8 inch rubber weed wacker fuel hose works). I like to have a set of extra injector heat shields as it is another item better bought on the internet due to cost.
The last time I went to the pull your own parts junk yard I pulled out at least 100 fuses and some other odds and ends and was charged only $2.50 for all of it.
The suggestion go get some extra glow plugs was a good one as you for get about them until they are dead; when you buy the locally they can cost nearly twice as much as on the internet and the local Autozones around here are not carrying the Bosch ones. You might end up buying Autolites just to get yourself going if you do not have spares.

Last time I had that "problem" I bought 5 GPs, a bunch of primary fuel filters, a couple of oil filters, and a couple of air filters.

A big torch/strobe.

A few reflective yellow vests.
