Chopping the top
Just thinking, just thinking..........
I have '79 300D and I have it insured under a "Collectors Car" policy. ($50 smackers a year). I drive it once a week and only during the nice (8) months. I have had thoughts of chopping the top off and having some fun. A faux convertible, SO TACKY!!! I know this is not a good thing for any serious driving but for slow occasional drive about town I think it might work. I'm told that it would be necessary to stiffen the body if this was done. It has been suggested that I could weld spacers in between the doors. Yes, it would be a "hop in" car. But since I don't have to go through state inspection...........it might be fun. Just thinking out loud. Flame suit on!!

Forget the spacers, just weld the doors closed.

WHAT? S#&!!! BLASPHEMY
IS ANYONE IN CENTRAL NJ THAT CAN RESCUE THIS CAR?!!!! (Just kidding, but your going to get ALOT of flak for this post) Sound interesting: you could: You could keep do it Kennedy Lincoln style with a crossbar; or Rolls Royce Phantom style: Same length as a sedan, 2 streched doors; huge back seat.
