For my NoVa friends... can you help me out?

If you have read my saga of the engine failure on my 300Sd, you know that I have been looking at a 300SDL in Virgina. I have now been sent to Dallas, Tx by my boss to try and fix issues with our Dallas operations. Iwill be gone at least two weeks. If I can get the seller to agree to a price, could I ask one of you to pick up the car for me? I would really appreciate it and a nice dinner would result :D

If I get a response, I will attempt to complete a long distance purchase of this car.

Thanks!

Joe

I'm in Sterling and would be glad to help you out. I don't have much room due to my "herd", but could store it for a week or so.

Where at in NoVa? I'm in Falls Church and have the same situation as powerpig

Shame I'm in SoVA, I have plenty of room. These don't even make a dent. ;)

The car is out in Stafford near the water. I am in Harper's Ferry (well, when I get back from Big-D). I am going to get in touch with the seller tomorrow and see if I can close the deal. If he cannot wait for me to get back, I will ask one of you guys to help get it out of his driveway. Just as a warning, I would not drive it long distances due to the flood of fuel coming from the worn out injector return lines. They really need to be pulled off and replaced before the car is road worthy.

I have about five feet of the proper hose back in WV. If the person who helps me out can replace those hoses, I can give you my new hose when I see you.

Thanks,

Joe

I don't know if you're already aware of this but Virginia links plates to insurance policy #s so plates are non-transferrable. The only way the owner can cancel his insurance is by letting the registration expire or turning in his plates to DMV. Otherwise he WILL be SR-22'd.

What's 'long distance'?

That sounds like NY. I am going to register the car in West Virgina anyway, so I would need to have him take his plates off the car. I guess that means towing the beast, which is what AAA if for :D

More than say three four miles. The fuel is really pouring out of the hoses. It drips down the engine block!

Sounds like a good plan. I'm guessing you'll have the PO drive to the intermediate location, remove the plates and have someone drive him back. Then AAA

Could be a problem getting ahold of someone close to Stafford. I know it's about 45 miles from me.

Here in northern NoVA, (outside the jewel called DC) there's a lot of yuppies who exist solely for the purpose of calling the cops on their neighbors. Fairfax county will give 30 days to get rid of the car, then comes the court date.

I've got a trailer, but it's a good 3 hour drive.

Thanks, guys. It seems like it will be a lot of work for one of you to do this. I think I might be able to convince AAA to drop the car off at my house in WV. I think it is only about 80 miles from there to Stafford. I have not gotten in touch with the owner yet, but I hope to do so tonight. I will let you now what happens tomorrow...
