What is a good price for a 93 300D?

Ok, I live in San Diego and I'm hopefully looking at a 1993 300D today. It has around 200,000 miles and the guy says "everything works." So if this turns out to be true, what is a good price to pay? He wants $5500. Kelley Blue Book says the nicest 93 should cost $4800. So he wants more than their listing, but I don't think KBB really understands that these diesels are as popular as they are, especially in southern California.

Also, I'm really only familiar with early 80's 300D's. Anything I should know about a 93 before checking it out? Anyone think a 93 is a bad idea compared to an early 80's model?

Thanks,
David
