Hood Scoop

OK. Who has a hood scoop on their 300D or 300SD? Did you center it on the hood or offset it over the air intake somehow?

Why? It would look ridiculous and have no benefits. Worst case it would have a Mustang fake scoop look.

a LOT of people would say daily driving a 70's or 80's Mercedes is rediculous. i say its your car, if you want a scoop you should add a scoop. I think a low profile wide one or maybe medium wide would look pretty cool, yes this would include the late 60's mustang scoop, some of those have turn signal blinkers on the back side. might be interesting.

As long as it's functional, at least it would have some use. Having one just to have the look of one (Mustang) is plain ricer.

Chrome trim looks good though, only down side is the rust risk.

I think chrome has it's place on just about any vehicle, especially a fine luxury sedan , whereas hood scoops are typically for performance gains and therefore are more commonly associated with performance vehicles. Now if the rest of the vehicle was ricer, as FI put it, it might look pretty cool. I could picture one on panzerSD's car. Assuming the car in his sig is his, it looks like it's lowered and bumpers removed, all blacked-out, etc.

If you had a top mount inter-cooler it would be functional.

O.M.G.!!! He didn't really go there did he..?

You could put a U.S.Mail-Box on top of the hood. Like Subaru did....

side intake

I like the looks of the side intake in the fender of the 190D 2.5 turbo and w124 300D. The new Ford super duty has a similar setup; makes it look like a semi tractor.

If I had to have a hood scoop I would look at the 1955 mercedes f1 car. it has an offest scoop to the left front of the hood and looks just awesome.

Anyone of the scoops from the early 50's would

Anyone of the following hood scoops would look good on your car. Pick from the following: 51,52 Kaiser, 53,54 Hudson Hornet, 51,52 DeSoto, 52,53 Mercury. The hood scoop didn't put much vigor into the sales of those cars, but one of them might put the vigor you are looking for into the "sails" of your Benz
