repairing wood trim

I have several places in the cars that the wood trim is peeling from the backing. Looks like 3 pieces.
Pulled RR door panel to attempt a fix. tried general spray adhesive, but it is not working so well.

Any ideas on how to repair this?

Several people have mentioned Gorilla Glue. According to the directions, you need to moisten both surfaces before applying. A damp sponge should do the trick. A couple of things to note about Gorilla Glue.....it expands so use a very thin layer and plan on needing to dress up the edges with a Dremel tool after drying......also, since it expands, use as many clamps as you can, the big clothespin type, with vinyl covered tabs, have worked well for me.

If you are looking to refinish, get some 0000 steel wool to polish and spray urethane. Find, or set up, the most dust free environment as it is like a magnet. I am looking to try a wet towel, over a frame, and placing the freshly sprayed finish inside until it is no longer tacky.
