First signs of transmission trouble

My 83 300D Turbo is taking several seconds to engage the transmission, especially when it is cold. One day this week it actually dropped out of gear for a second while backing out of the driveway. The fluid level is full and appears clean. I am going to change the oil and filter this coming Saturday hoping that it may prolong the life some. I bought this car 8 months ago from the original owner who said the transmission was rebuilt about 30,000 miles ago. The car has almost 210,000 miles.

So I have a few questions for the forum:

What kind of transmission fluid is best for these cars? Is there a drain plug in the torque converter? How much oil does the transmission hold? Are there any additives that may help my situation? Any advice would be appreciated.
