603 Block Heater Cord Help

I want to buy an OE-style block heater cord for my '87 300D. I looked at the photo on the mercedesshop tab above ^^, it was a rectangular one with no lock-ring. The car has a round threaded block heater, where the OE cord connects, seals, and screws down from what I remember of my 602.

So, ... I ordered one from Rusty, explained what I need, got the rectangular TEMPO/Zerostart one. Rusty says he's never seen the round one in 27years, ... am I wrong or is the round one available? Is it a dealer-only item? (dealer is a 2hour round-trip)

I can install this one if it fits, goop it up with silicone grease, it won't ground but it'll make contact on the other two, would rather do it "right".

Neither of my 603s have ever had the cord, but my 602 has one.

Help on sources please, preferrably reasonably priced internet same-day-ship type sources.

I know it's a different car but...I just bought one for my 99 E300. It came with the round plug and cirulcar retaining ring. I would find a dealer to buy it from that will ship it directly to your house. They didn't have it instock and it shipped to them the next day. I had to pick it up but I'm on 15 minutes away. I didn't have to pay anything extra. You can give them a credit card number over the phone to pay for it.

Yes, and I'll be checking today to see if it's in-stock. It sounds like the block-heater cord is a dealer-only part, rather surprises me as it has to be a fairly common replacement item in much of the world.

so what exactly is wrong with your cord? The whole things broke or just the plug part? You know you can buy screw on plug terminals at the local hardware store, right?

Never had one.
The '87 300D had a block heater standard, but you had to turn in the coupon in the manual within the first 90days to get the cord installed free. Neither of my 300Ds have the cord.

That's the late plug and what most aftermarket block heaters use for a cord now.
