electrical gremlin help
My 83 240D has an intermittent current drain. This evening when I applied my meter between ground and battery to measure amps I heard the GP relay contacts, ignition switch was off. Was only able to duplicate it twice by disconnecting and then reconnecting battery. The GP relay is brand new, installed two days ago. 0.1 amps was my current reading without the GPs on, ignition switch off.
I am not the best at reading schematics and need help to find the origin of the power source to the GP relay. Is there another relay that could be corroded and sticking in the on position providing power to the GP relay? The ignition switch is less than a year old. Any other suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks. John

First if not absolutly sure of what you are hearing unplug the glow relay and recheck for draw. In my opinion what you hear clicking might very well be something else based on your low current draw. True glow relay contacts on would indicate a fifty or more amp drain in my opinion. In my opinion as well the odds of trouble with the key switch circuit are less with it not the glow relay activating. If you can duplicate the draw with the glow relay disconnected start pulling fuses one at a time for starters. This should help isolate the less than one amp draw problem.

The glow plug timer is hot (ie: receives power) at all times. It is connected directly to the battery via the starter.

I'll try and duplicate the current drain today. Since it is intermittent, tracing the source has been difficult.
