Maybe you didn`t look in the right place. I have an 85 also and my numbers are right where Diesel Giant says. yours is a 722.xxx.
The numbers are right above the pan, stamped in the aluminium.

If you have a Calif. 85, the pan gasket is not the same as the federal. I found out that after I had it all apart.

Here's a photo of the 722.416 transmichigan in my 1985 300D Turbo (California). It was hard for me to see initially because it was covered with oil and dirt.

Strange there are no numbers. maybe it was built on friday, it was late in the afternoon, and the guy said fogetit, Iam out of here.

Jeremy5848 and I both have the Cali model 85. he listed the number on his transmission, it is the same as mine, which is a different number than the 85 federal. for what ever reason the pan gasket is different on the cali model. I found out when I serviced mine and the gasket has a different shape. the filter is the same I believe. I had to call Phill to ask what the problem was, and had to order just the gasket. I think just that alone with shipping was $18.00.

go into parts above, list your year and go into transmission, then trans filter kit. there it shows California and the other is 1982 which the 85 federal is. look at the shape of the gasket and then compare it to the shape of your pan.
If your car is a cali car, the air filter is behind the r/f headlight.
