603 radiator pressure
OK, I know this has been discussed to death and I have searched old posts. I think I have an air lock in the cooling system after changing the block heater, draining the system and refilling with new coolant. I do not overheat, running around 85-100. No coolant present in oil. No oil present in coolant.
I have filled the system from the upper radiator hose and replaced 3 times, each time there has been air in the upper hose and the top half inch of the radiator, is this normal. My problem is that I am building pressure in the system which pops of through the resevoir cap. I did not notice the pressure before changing the coolant. Can anyone tell me the exact procedure to purge the cooling system of air. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks. |

I park that sucker with the passenger side (tank side) high and fill her.
Takes awhile for it to migrate. |

Explain in more detail please. Does the cap release the pressure to atmosphere..........or does the air build up pressure under the cap?

If there was a serious air pocket present, the temps would shoot past 100°C in a hurry - BT, DT. If temps are normal, I'm not sure you have a problem. Fill the plastic tank all the way up if there is not liquid present in the upper radiator hose. Once you get liquid in the hose, it should be fine. If you're getting residual high pressure after the engine cools down, well... if you've done your searches, you know what THAT means.
