mercedes-benz-imports.com fraud?

I placed an order back on January 19 from mercedes-benz-imports.com for the air cleaner to turbo u boot and spent $60. I then called February 1st to check in on the order, he said he special ordered it from Mercedes, it had just gotten there and that he was shipping it out that day. Here I am two weeks later with nothing. I tried calling again this morning and the number is now disconnected.

I'm wanting to know what everybody elses experience has been with ordering from this guy, if anybody else has gotten ripped off or anything. Because it's pretty apparent at this point that I have been ripped off and this guy is getting away with my $60.

I never ordered with them

BUT, I can tell you performanceparts4benz.com is no good. Fastlane (see 'buy parts' above) is about the best you'll find on a web search.

Don't let the charge go over 60 days unresolved, you'll have a tough time getting anything back from the credit card company.

Some hoses they sent that were not the correct part number.

The response was, "We have no record that you ordered them." I sent copies of my check used to pay for the parts- no avail.

argh! I hate cheaters and scammers. I got taken by a guy from u-ship. I think it has happend to many if not all of us. I wish my lesson was cost only $60.
I do not do much on e-bay etc. only if I can find some long term info on a place, or decide I can take the chance of loosing the $$. But there is always the risk...
that was my lesson from this type of thing.

See what the card company will do.

I was starting to wonder where one of my recent items was. Seller had about 27,000 transactions with a 99.8 percent feedback. Now I see he is no longer listed on ebay since I prevailed in the auction. I collected on the last deal that went bad so I have filed on this one as well. Time will tell.
What is even worse is the continuing practice of people buying very old cars sight unseen. Not even having the car checked independentally. In too many cases people should not bother about cleaning up before going to pick it up . There may be a bath already waiting for you.
E bay besides having some good points offers an excellent venue for a crook or a person of low integrity to operate.

Anothe thought

My comment is from the other side of the issue. I sold something-mailed USPS it- and it was never delivered! I had to ship the buyer another item and pay for more shipping with tracking number and for them sign. This came out of my pocket. I sent 2 items several days ago at the same time from California. The item sent to North Carolina has arrived the item sent to the City in California has not arrived. (The tracking numbers only say the package left the local Post Office showing that it has not been delivered.) I am having to face refunding the buyer his money. Alot of sellers are going to say "it is not my fault" when something gets lost in the mail. Buyers do not want to pay for tracking and insurence on items that are let's say $20-$40. Some sellers (especilly Ebay type sellers) are probably saying that they are not in business to loose money and that it is tough luck to the buyer if something gets lost in the mail.
You guys tell me who is responsible if I ship an item and it never arrives?

I am quoting my self: The tracking number shows that the missing package was delivered!!! Finalllllllllly!

Tough call. You perhaps have to look at the average amount of difficulties experienced as a vendor. If low enough either swallow them or insist on some kind of insured delivery with the purchaser paying for it.
I am still happy with the low amount of problems I encounter as a buyer. The savings overall or availability make it worthwhile. A lost item in shipping is understandable. Non shipping or outright fraud is not. I personally expect the fraud aspect to increase with time on that medium. Too bad.

I've been on both sides of the deal as well. Unfortunately, if the item never arrives, and there is no insurance on the item, and there are no stated terms up front regarding loss in shipping, generally the seller is responsible.

If the buyer paid with a credit card, the seller is absolutely responsible every time.

The only alternative is to add insurance to the shipping cost. Generally sellers charge much more than the actual shipping cost, anyway............so, the additional insurance is not an undue burden. However, most sellers just like to pocket the money..........very rarely is an item lost in transit.

I've shipped over 100 EGR kits over the years...........only one was "lost" in transit. I took the buyer's word that it never arrived...........never got returned either. The cost of the additional kit was less than insuring every parcel against loss.

I shipped over 6,000 packages UPS last year to US, Canada, and Mexico. One was left at a back door and not checked for days, disappeared, a second one was damaged by UPS.

I always insure UPS packages, the first $100 is free (or is it $99?). If there is ever an issue UPS checks it out and I'm covered.

Canadian shipments are another issue, costs the reciprient too much so I won't ship UPS to Canada anymore (except large commercial shipments), but for the small extra charge, I say insure it.

I bought a camera off eBay one time that didn't work like it was supposed to (It was advertised as working, but it wasn't) - so I returned it. USPS never delivered it. They delivered it to me, but my return never made it back - therefore, I didn't get to keep my money or the camera.

I just ordered $200 worth of stuff from Phil 5 minutes ago. Little order, lately insted of ordering everything at once I break it up so it doesn't show up on the same Visa bill. Anyway shipping was free, and I'm expecting to have it all Tuesday or Wednesday, because Phil is as fast as an E55.

Is Fastlane slightly more then buying XX on ebay? Probably.
Not having problems=priceless

You really can't say if USPS delivered it. With a dishonest seller, as you clearly have, he might have received it and then denied receipt. With USPS, unless you pay for proof of delivery or insurance..........there's no way to know.

I sell extra MB stuff on ebay. I offer a money back policy if the buyer is not satisfied.

It's a rare occasion when I have to eat a sale. I'm willing to take a chance, it's cheaper to have an occasional jerk, than to insure each transaction.
