AT dipstick leaking...help
On my 81 300D the trany is leaking out of what looks like where the dipstick attaches to the trany. There is a couple of crush washers, I'm assuming, that I should replace? Where would I get these washers at? I didn't want to take it off and have all my fluid leak out and not be able to find it anywhere. I live on an island and there is currently no dealership here, it's being rebuilt. Where is the best place to get them? Anyone happen to know exactly what size spec? Thanks Aloha

Iam sure your 81 is like my 85 300D. there is an allen bolt that holds the dip stick tube to the transmission. don`t remember the size, probably 4 or 5 mm. the upper end is attached to the intake manifold with a 10mm. but then mine is a turbo, not sure what the NA one is attached to. pull out the tube, and on the bottom is an O-ring, the ATF won`t runout if it is removed. just clean off the area really well before you lift it out. don`t want any grit to drop in the pan. some spray brake cleaner would be good.
Just don`t drive around with the tube out. Charlie

After a transmission swap, mine was leaking. I had to stack two o-rings on there to keep it from leaking. Now, not a drop!
And tell Phil Bill sent you, too!
