Exclamation 85 300D Steering Gear Box Replacement/Rebuild

Does anyone have any ideas or advice on parts for rebuilding an 85 300D steering gear box rebuild? My car weaves all over the road. Its SCARY

Have you attempted to adjust it?

Have you determined it's in the box, not the joint on the steering column?

How about the steering linkage?

Easier to find another box than to rebuild it.

I did a NOS box replacement a couple of years ago on my 83 300D, what a difference! But I first ensured all the other parts were good first.

Good pictorial on RESEALING a steering box, not rebuilding. He does not replace any of the balls or pinion arm. so it is a reseal not rebuild.

Dave

PS. good idea to save this page as a DIY file.
